No Lockouts

CURFEWS and lockouts at the city's hotels are not the answer to eliminating anti-social behaviour, Newcastle councillor and lord mayoral candidate Helene O'Neill said.

Improved transport, security and safety initiatives would serve the city better than the early closing times imposed on hotels, Cr O'Neill said.

"While alcohol has been thought to fuel the violence in the district, providing safe and regular transport for partygoers at night would improve conditions greatly," she said.
