IT'S been a year of achievement and recognition for Newcastle's quality hotel Noah's On the Beach.
The hotel was presented with a Gold Star Award at the recent Choice Hotels Australasia Conference 2008. Gold Awards are presented by Choice to hotels that have demonstrated excellence in quality, branding, franchisee, customer relations, financial and active participation. The business development manager at Noah's, Debera Mackenzie, said owners and staff were extremely proud of the award, which acknowledged the high quality and standards of the hotel. "The Gold Star is currently on display in the hotel foyer," she said.Ms Mackenzie herself has been an award-winner this year, being recognised recently at the 2008 Hunter Region Tourism Awards for Excellence in Tourism. She won the Outstanding Contribution to Tourism in Newcastle Award for extraordinary personal and professional achievement and contributions by organisations or individuals over many years to the tourism industry in their local area. "It is only with the co-operative support of the operators and organisations in the Hunter Region that I have been able to contribute," Ms McKenzie said. "I am now lucky to be working for an iconic Newcastle hotel. The owners, the Hawcroft family, are as passionate about Newcastle as I am, so I look forward to continuing to contribute in the coming years."Meantime the hotel's restaurant, Jonah's On the Beach, has been recognised for the second year in a row as the Hunter Region's best restaurant in a hotel.Jonah's also picked up the Best Restaurant Caterer award at the 2008 Restaurant & Catering Association's Hunter Region awards, held recently in Newcastle.
